Nexkey’s next gen mobile access control platform secures lightning speeds with newest update to support enterprise clients managing thousands of users

Enterprise grade access management has now become 5.5X faster after Nexkey releases latest backend update

Nexkey improves performance of mobile access control system for enterprise

Since 2018, Nexkey has brought smarter, simplified access control to small businesses across the United States to eliminate the hassle of managing physical keys.

We have seen that when customers get a taste for how easy Nexkey makes access management for one or a few doors, they want to bring Nexkey to every door and location to make their business even more efficient and secure. Our expansions make up an exceptional 25% of our revenue, and 73% of our customers surveyed are likely to buy more Nexkey.

On the other hand, we have gotten a lot of interest from enterprise customers who need to manage access to thousands of people and tens of thousands of keys. Key cards have become a huge financial and operational burden and are often lost, or hard to track down.

Why are more enterprise accounts wanting Nexkey’s cloud based access control platform?

The most common credential has been the key card. Nexkey surveyed over 1,000 office workers, and 44% of them use a key card to access their place of work, yet the #1 choice for both admins and users was to access the building with a smartphone.

Not only is the mobile credential a more seamless experience because your phone is always with you, it eliminates the need for a physical credential entirely. Remember, key cards decrease the burden of giving out keys and rekeying, but you still have to give out and manage the key cards, and most likely you are still giving out keys for offices, storage closets, cabinets, etc.

For customers who have multiple offices and thousands of people coming and going, key cards become their own burden. These customers, typically real estate offices, coworking workspaces, enterprise customers, and large retailers, choose Nexkey’s smarter access control system because of its simplified management, flexibility, and remote access features.

Businesses can easily share or revoke access instantly to Groups of hundreds of people without having to give out and keep track of physical credentials. Installation is also much more affordable and clean versus competing solutions which means businesses can have more access control across more locations.

Our engineering team has made it a huge priority to strengthen our platform in order to meet the needs of these bigger accounts. We have improved the speed of sharing and revoking access tremendously with our latest update.

What is this improvement to the backend of Nexkey’s access management system?

When you share access with one or two people with Nexkey, it only takes one to three seconds so you probably haven’t noticed much of a change. When you start to share access with hundreds or thousands of people, this improvement is going to make tasks a lot easier and faster to complete.

Getting technical, we optimized our database queries and employed caching wherever we could throughout the platform. As a result, tasks like sharing keys, adding people to Groups, and onboarding a mass amount of new users happens in lightning speed.

While many customers who only share access with a few people at a time may not even realize there is a difference, our customers managing hundreds or thousands of people across multiple groups and locations will find this to be a game changer with their everyday tasks. We have seen an overall improvement of tasks becoming 5.5X faster.

The improvements are much more pronounced for tasks that require hundreds or even thousands of key shares. This will accelerate the following features for all our customers:

  • Granting access

  • Revoking access

  • Group management

  • People management

  • Audit Trail

How do I get this update?

This improvement was implemented a few weeks ago to every Nexkey customer. You don't need to do anything to enjoy these benefits. Just by continuing to use the app and Portal, you are able to see the difference.

What is the Nexkey Portal?

Nexkey Portal is the best way to manage access for large clients that have many doors outfitted with Nexkey's access control system and a large number of users that need to access their space.

While you can grant and revoke access, remotely unlock your business, and view a detailed audit trail for who enters your space and when in the Nexkey mobile app, you can also do that and more in your browser with Nexkey Portal.

Additional features include Nexkey’s Dashboard which gives you intelligent insights into space utilization, occupancy, flow of people, and access events over time through beautiful, visual reports. You can customize the reports and data to reflect what is most important for your business.

Nexkey Portal is also a great way to set up your Groups. We recommend you use Groups to manage access to your spaces and people in your organization if you regularly share access or add users to the platform. It makes it easier to keep everyone organized in lists, and when someone leaves, you simply remove them from the Group and all access will be revoked instantly.

To start using the Nexkey Portal go to our website nexkey.com or directly by going to portal.nexkey.com
